I am finally over my cold, it was nasty and really kicked my but. Between the fatigue of working a 3am shift last Tuesday and the cold I had to stay home on Thursday to recover. I was just so wasted by the middle of the day Wednesday it was all I could do to make it through the rest of the day.
I am feeling much better but I still have some congestion to get out of my chest and my sinuses are still bothering me. However, I think it's more about allergies than about a cold.
Well, today I learned my lesson on not watching the local news often enough. I haven't watched the news in about a week. With the weather being all nice and spring-like in the 50s, 60s and even edging into the 70s I just put on a polo shirt and my hooded sweatshirt and walked out the door. Bad idea.
For starters it was not the 40+ degrees it was yesterday, not it was 30. Then after being very chilly on the way to work I heard that it was raining. Luckily this didn't start until after I got into work so I am dry. But, of course, I don't have an umbrella because I wasn't expecting it to rain and was still in "snow" gear mode.
So, I will make sure to check the weather more regularly. I can at least check the weather widget on the iMac if I can't watch the news.
February 2, 2007 - I drove to work Friday because Bonnie didn't want to go out in the cold because of her cold. When I got to work I saw this in the drive making a delivery. A SNAPPLE TRUCK!!! I love Snapple, particularly peach iced tea. I don't get it often, but I do love it.
February 3, 2007 - OK, I admit today's picture is a bit odd. This is a screenshot of me trying to catch up on my RSS feeds. I neglected them for a few days and had many 100s of items to read.
February 4, 2007 - This morning I ran out to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts to surprise Bonnie when she got up. Victor was pretty happy to see them too. Go figure.
Ok, I know I am off to a slow start. It's the 12th and I haven't posted one picture yet. So here are the first 12.
January 1, 2007 - The Christmas tree is all packed up and all the ornaments, lights and decorations are in their boxes. We have a lot of Christmas decorations.
January 2, 2007 - Going back to work I try to start the day off right with Cheereos for breakfast and a ham sandwich with peppermint stick for lunch.
January 4, 2007 - The Christmas Blizzard snow has melted enough to reveal the B-B-Q. I was able to dig my way out to it and cook some brats later.
January 5, 2007 - We started tearing out the carpet downstairs in the family room. The concrete floor is pretty hard.
January 6, 2007 - This is the living room with no carpet. Bare plywood isn't much of a flooring.
January 7, 2007 - Here's my family at my Birthday dinner at mom and dads. Clockwise from the left we have Joel, Terri, Sarah, Nicholas, PaPa, Bonnie and Grandma.
January 8, 2007 - This is the "After" picture of the family room with our wonderful new berber carpet. It really looks great and it's so comfy on the feet. Bonnie couldn't be happier with the new carpet.
January 9, 2007 - This was my bus stop Tuesday morning. The edge of the glacier there is ABOVE the middle step on the bus that picks me up. I actually have to jump down to the bus from the nearly three foot high crusty snow on the roadside.
January 10, 2007 - The Home Depot, my favorite store after MicroCenter. I had to stop by after work for some caulking and ice melt. I got two 20lb bags of mag-chloride to help reduce the icepack in front of our driveway.
January 11, 2007 - Thursday night before I went to bed the outside temperature was about 15 degrees. We might get that warm again in a few days.
January 12, 2007 - This was a very welcome site as I got off the Light Rail at the Lincoln Station, my 410 bus waiting for me. This meant my time spent out in the cold was limited to the walk from train to bus. I checked the temperature when I got home and it was dead on 0.
Well, as cold as it was yesterday, it's just going to keep getting colder today, and tomorrow and maybe the day after..... That's right, we are in the grips of an arctic cold snap.
Here's the latest forecast:
You can see the outlook is colder than yesterday's. On the bright side the outlook for snow has dropped. We got maybe an inch of powder this by the time I left the house this morning. Pretty insignificant. As much as I like snow I am looking forward to melting the several-inch-thick layer of bumpy ice on my street.I can say it was DAMN cold this morning waiting for the bus. I will need to bundle up more if it's going to be like this again. It really isn't safe to be outside in this weather, you're likely to be frozen in an hour.
Well, the last snow storm was about six inches and now, we are looking at another six inches this weekend. Oh, but for a twist, this time our temps are going to drop into the teens, not the twenties like the last three storms. The forecast is looking very cold right now.
I can't tell you how much I am not looking forward to waiting for the bus in 0 degree weather.
It's really too bad, another week without snow and some decent temps and we might have been able to melt most of the snow we got before Christmas. Oh well, at least it's just expected to be a few inches.
For what it's worth, we are really loosing our reputation for snow that's here today, gone tomorrow.
