In discussing the price of gas on another site I just came up with a though. I don't know if it's a prediction of the future or what, but I'm putting it out there.
Grief counselors at gas stations. They would help ease the blow of paying those $4 to $10 per gallon prices in the coming months and years.
Of course, I don't know if this would be included in the price of gas or if it would be an optional service paid by the customer. It's still in the idea stages.
Today I noticed that the price of gas at the stations I can see from the Park 'n' Ride had spiked up again. It was up to $2.42 a gallon!!
A quick check of Denver Gas Prices shows that since the first of February the price of gas is on a pretty steady climb. The average price was $2.00 then and now, about 45 days later it's up to $2.47. That's nearly a 25% increase at a rate of about 1c a day!!
Of course they say it's due to the switch winter to summer fuel. Funny how this surprises them every year and they just can't seem to prepare for it. Hmmm.....
I just can't believe that in the last month the price of gas in town has gone up about 36 cents a gallon. What is the reason for this? Did I miss some great event that caused gas prices to spike so rapidly? Oh, besides the one where the oil industry reported record profits?
At this rate I would not be surprised to see the price of gas hit $4 this summer.
The price of gas leaves me conflicted. On one hand I hate to pay any more than I have to. However, on the other hand, high gas prices cause people to trade their SUV in for the more fuel efficient car they should have bought in the first place.
I laugh at people with SUVs when they tell me how much it costs to fill up their tank.
