My cats are going a bit stir crazy today because they've been locked in our computer room for over two weeks. You may ask, "Why would we do this to our cats?" Well, there's a simple answer to that question.
Salem is a climber. He sees a Christmas Tree not as a beautiful work of art that took us hours of work to decorate, but as a challenge. He like to see if he can climb all the way to the top, and the first year he did. His brother, Skittles, could care less about the tree beyond checking out the low hanging ornaments and maybe hiding under it.
While talking about their unfortunate incarceration today with my wife, Bonnie, I came up with a solution.
CARBONITE HIBERNATION! That's right the cats could go Han Solo for the holidays!
However, today Bonnie is not feeling visionary because she just couldn't see the genius of my idea. I will admit there are some roadblocks to overcome but my idea is in it's early stages. A few logistical details will need to be worked out. Maybe I can have it up and running by next Christmas.
First, I would need to find a carboinite freezing chamber somewhere close by. The reason for this is that cost of transport to Bespin could be prohibitive. I haven't looked it up on Expedia or Travelocity but I'm not thinking I'm going to get a discount fare.
Second, there would need to be a study as to the long term effects on pets. There would also need to be a study into the effects of multiple freezings.
Finally, Bonnie claims it's a fictional construct of George Lucas' mind existing only in the Star Wars galaxy, whatever. Details, details.
If I get this working I think it could be an alternative boarding method for families going on vacation. In stead of taking the dog to the kennel, you put them in carbonite. When you come back from vacation and your pets would never know you left. I could franchise it and take the idea national.
Now I guess I need to work on my VC pitch so I can some money to get this idea off the ground.

February 19, 2007 - This is my view for 40 minutes today while I waited for the bus that never came. RTD couldn't get a hold of the bus so they couldn't tell me why it never showed up. I had to wait for the next bus 30 minutes later. Grrrrr.
January 29,2007 - Here is Victor's PS2, in our living room. It has taken up permanent residence here so that we can play family games on it with the MultiTap I bought on eBay yesterday. Our first party game is Shrek Super Party. There don't seem to be nearly as many 4 player games for the PS2 as we had on our GameCube but I think we can have some fun. Maybe someday we can get a Wii and play some Wii Sports.
January 30,2007 - Here's Salem hiding in a cardboard box. He's big on cardboard boxes. They're really his favorite.
January 13, 2007 - I gassed up the Civic this morning. It was freezing cold so I figure the gas was very dense, thus the maximum for my bucks. It was only $2.239, the lowest I have seen in a month for the mid-grade. Then two days later it dropped 2c a gallon. Whatever.....
January 14, 2007 - Here's Salem hiding under the end table in the living room. He just got busted doing something he shouldn't and thinks this is a pretty good place to hide.
January 15, 2007 - Our first blizzard was December 21st and we STILL can't see our street. Of course, this area just past the sidewalk was clear before the city came by and helped clear the street.

January 17, 2007 - Today my light rail train was a bit confused. 18th & Cal was displayed all the way to the Lincoln station. The train was heading south, but it thought it was going north.
